As a former division of General Motors, Delco Remy has developed advanced technologies and provided the industry with automotive, heavy-duty and U.S. military products for 76 years.
August 1994: The Heavy Duty Systems and a portion of the Automotive Systems were sold to a group of private investors led by former Chrysler President, Harold K. Sperlich and Delco Remy executive, Thomas J. Snyder.
August 2004: The company changed its name to Remy International, Inc., marking the tenth anniversary as a separate company from General Motors Corporation. Remy Inc. retains a perpetual licensing agreement with General Motors to manufacture, market and sell Delco Remy branded alternators and starters for heavy-duty truck, agricultural, construction and industrial markets worldwide and O.E. automotive starters for certain customers.
Today: The company has doubled in size with over 6000 employees worldwide and recorded more than $1 billion in sales last year, becoming the seventh largest privately-held company based in Indiana.
