OTR Brake Chambers: Designed, Tooled, & Tested in the U.S.A.

OTR Semi Truck

Written September, 2022

Why You Should Drive with OTR

OTR Brake Chambers are engineered with Expertise Built In™, being positioned on each wheel. These round, metal containers work to compress air to convert such energy into mechanical force.

When the brake pedal is depressed, air pressure is directed into the brake chamber, causing the diaphragm to expand. This expansion generates the necessary mechanical force to activate the brake shoes, pressing them against the brake drum or rotor. As a result, friction is created, slowing down or stopping the semi truck.

Identify the Correct Brake Chamber Type & Size

To determine if a brake chamber is a long-stroke or standard-stroke type, look for markers on it. If no identifiers, such as an etching, can be spotted, one can deem the brake chamber as a standard-stroke type.

To find the right brake chamber size (such as Type 20, Type 24, or Type 30) for your vehicle, measure the outside diameter with a caliper or chambermate tool.

Service Center Tech Tip

Caution: Spring Brake Cage Bolts

We cannot emphasize enough that the caging bolt of a spring brake must be turned to compress the spring. This is obligatory, as the spring is under exceptionally high pressure and must first compress the spring before disassembly.

If the vehicle has lost air pressure, you may need to cage the spring.

OTR: Quality, Innovation, and Durability

All OTR Brake Chambers feature a orange stroke ALERT INDICATOR. This notifies you to check if the slack adjuster is in accordance with its manufacturer's instructions.

Combat the harsh conditions experienced by heavy-duty trucks. This long-term corrosion and/or rust prevention. This is possible with powder coating allows for with NON-PRESSURE HOUSING epoxy coating of 10 GA. housing. OTR stops rust with a tough chamber and a DUST SHIELD that blocks dirt, sand, and moisture.

The ALUMINUM CENTER ADAPTER seals well, has a plated push rod, and precise finish. The heavy duty phosphate-coated wire of the RETURN SPRINGS have a no-clash design and is tested to 1,000,000 cycles.
