This superior IR (infrared) leak detector detects the refrigerant by scanning the area in a slow target scan mode. Moving the sensor back and forth until the alarm sounds; the IR sensor zeroes out when held over a leak. This unit provides the same trigger conditions for all refrigerants which is an advantage over other technologies that work better for some refrigerants than others.
